14T Countershaft on RM250

Recommended Posts

I've ridden my 03RM250 twice now, and for desert, I need more top-end speed. It's got 13/49, and that's just not cutting it. So I picked up a 14T c/s sprocket, but I can't get it on there because of the rubber chain slider thing... it's just in the way!

Any tips... instead of having to buy a 47T rear, which I don't want to do b/c it will be too much of a hassle and simply not enough top end?!

Thanks, that's what I was guessing, but I didn't want to try, destroy my slider (cause it already looks thin there) cutting it, and learn that the 14T doesn't fit anyway.

I use a 14T in the desert and a 12T in the mountains. I get the big spocket started on the splines and then use a large deep socket and just lightly tap it past the flange on the edge of the chain slider. It helps to line up the teeth so that you have a gap lined up with the swing arm bolt.

I also had to adjust the case guard with a die grinder to get the chain on.
