Syracuse is getting an indoor MX park

It's amazing how little press this is getting -- even in 'Cuse!

Here's an update on the $70 million expansion at HeadRush Extreme Sports at 3417 Walters Road:

The $10 million, 87-room Wingate Hotel is nearing completion and construction of the new indoor motocross building has started. The hotel should be open by mid-September, said Jacob Wright, the president of Action Sports Developers.

?:ride: The foundation for the indoor motocross building was scheduled to be poured last week, Wright said. :applause::applause:

Besides indoor motocross, the expansion is to include an indoor water park, indoor BMX, indoor paintball, indoor go-carts, a retail outlet, restaurants, an arcade and commons area.

The indoor BMX track will be the only one of its kind in the northeast, Wright said, allowing riders to train year-round.

Total expansion is expected to be completed sometime in the fall of 2007, Wright said.

the prices are sick....at least last time i looked at the website they have for it...that was sometime last year...maybe they rethought the pricing..

Would be great if they made it more affordable to the average rider, however, either way does not concern me too much as I dont ride SX or MX.

That said I would still probably check it out (at either price).

Sounds cool but unhealthy to me. How do they prevent people from getting CO poisoning? Good ventilation?

I guess so. ?

Anyways guys it should open tomorrow! I called today and she said that all they are waiting on is for a inspection then they are good to go! I can't wait.

I'm going sometime during christmas break... what about you guys?

You guys are bitching about $40 bucks to ride a INDOOR motocross track that's open YEAR ROUND in bad weather? What are you joking me? Do you have any ideas on the costs involved to heat / light / build / maintain a indoor dirtbased track?

Mototown is $75 for a day pass might I add.

You'll go snowboarding for a day and drop $65 on a weekend liftticket. Indoor MX stadiums are a similar entity.

Be glad we have several options to get the wheels dirty over the cold months. I'm riding Mototown tomorrow (again) and I can't wait. Getting there at 6pm.. oh yea, it's dark out at 4pm.
