Cleaning backfire screen

Recommended Posts

I have an '06 KX250F, and I accidently got some air filter grease on the backfire screen. How can I remove the screen to clean it good.

Also what top clamps you suggest to help in cornering wash out.

it would be good to take the whole airbox out and give the whole thing a good cleaning...

as for the clamps, aftermarket clamps arent gonna help washing out, but you can try sliding the fork tubes up in the clamps (lowering the clamps).

Thanks alot

I'll try taking off the air box tomorrow, I think all i have to do is take rear number plates off and take off the nuts on the studs behind the airbox, and it should slide out ??

After every ride I just throw my whole filter assembly(filter, screen cage, screw) in a bucket of warm water with oxy clean. It gets everything clean.

The easiest way would be to take the whole subframe off. Take the bolts out that hold the muffler to the subframe, take the three subframe bolts out, and losen the clamp on the back of carb.

If you want to never have this problem again, buy an "airbox screen eliminator plate on ebay".
