Just picked up an 2005.5 250 sxf: need help

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a 2005.5 KTM 250 sxf. Its got 58 hrs on it. Just had a top end, so everything is in spec. Since the rebuild, its only had 4 laps around a track. Whats the best way to break in the bike? I was told to run it for about 5 hard laps on the track, and then change the oil, and oil filter. Then just ride normal...what do you think?

Also what are some good intervals to check the valves at? Remember its a new topend with 58 previous hrs

Ill have pics up soon to show off my new bike , and ill have some more questions soon. THanks!

Age old question with 5 or so opionions.

Invest 2 or 3 hrs searching hear and Ktalk and you will get 90% of all your questions answered.

Down load the service manual if you did not get one and follow the instructions for break in.

Start it and let it warm up. Shut it off and let it cool down

Ride for 10 min if you want but just ease into it.

Do this for a tank of gas and you will good to go.

Needs heat cycled to seat the rings.
