XR 400 Weird Throttle Response

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Replaced the stock bars with Renthal's (no-risers), and just replaced the stock carb with a pumper; replacing both throttle cables as needed.

Bike starts first kick and idles perfectly. If I turn the bars all the way to the right - no-problem. However, If I turn the bars all the way to the left, about 1" before full lock the bike cuts out as though I've hit the kill switch.

Can't see any cables that have become 'tight', and if there was a problem I would assume it would occur on full lock to the right.

Any ideas???

Thanks,

You might be pulling the decompressor cable enough to lose compression. Otherwise, you may be shorting the kill switch wire by grounding a bare spot on it.

Hi,

Had a look tonight and it seems that it was slightly pulling on the decompressor cable. Fixed that and I'll try the bike tommorrow just to make sure it wasn't an amalgamation of different problems.

Thanks all.
