07 KTM 450 xcw jetting ???

Recommended Posts

Laramie Wyoming 8000 to 10,000 feet, tight single track. Just bought the 450 xcw and seems to have little ability to get the front end up and over (logs, rocks etc.) at low speeds. Have geared it down from 14 and 50 to 12 and 52 but really didn't help. Went from stock jetting/3rd position to the fourth on the needle /42 to 45 on the pilot/ and 178 on the main. Throttle is crisp all through the range just can't get the tire up. Will the JD kit help and do they make one for the 07 450xcw? Maybe I just can't ride!!!

You don't have a throttle stop in the carb do you? That bike, even jetted crappy should be able to loft the wheel with ease.

Yes, the carb does have a throtle stop but it is short and the slide goes to full open. Also noticed the squirt from the accelerator pump circuit is right on time. The bike revs smooth, has no bog and starts great. It just doesnt have any power in the bottom.

Try turning your idle speed up a little. If the idle is to low than the decompressor is activated and the low end will all but go away.
