Any tips for a amature?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I'm a year ridin mx and I'm gettin better. I hope to start racein soon. I'm 17 and just want some tips. I get nervous before I go out all the time. When I think of some of the jumps I nearly get sick!. But I relax after a few laps. My biggest down fall is corners I never seem to carry enough speed into them and I get caught up on the edge of clay built up like a berm. Any tips. Also I get dreadful pains in my arms and fingrs. Is that arm pump? Thanks for any tips in relation to any part of ridin.

Um grip the seat with your knees more to help with the arm pump and then read the "everything you need to know about cornering" thread.

I am 17 too. I have only been riding for about 4 months, and I always seem to get that nervous feeling right before riding. I don't why, but its annoying.

nervous and excited feel about the same...it's all in the attitude. It's okay to feel that way...as a matter of fact, it's good. Just might keep you from getting crazy, doing something stupid, and getting seriously hurt.

As for corners...practice, practice, practice.

Its something that happens with some people. I used to always be that way but now I'm not. i would have to go to the portajohn right when I got to the track like clockwork. I know this one kid that threw up every time before he raced but was fine onthe track and now hes pretty fast and i dont think he throws up anymore.

Thanks guys. I thought I was the only one who gets worried going out. Read that cornering post. That seems to be some good info. But the whole pain in mya rms. Is that arm pump? Its not pumpin just like they are rteal stiff. Sometimes it happens within 10min of ridin??

I do love the track and the sport! Thats why I put all my time and money into it. Its just I get nrvous before going out. After a while any bad thoughts leave my mind. BTW I treid the new cornering tips today in a flat field. I've certainly got smoother at corners within 30min so I'm gonna stay practising that. I hope to go to a trainin day next all going well (its just a few days before my sis's wedding!

That pretty much sums up everything i've read on this website its pretty funny. Everyone says eat a banana and grip knees, lean forward etc... thats good.
