clutch cover polish/removal

i polished my entire bike with mothers polish and then decided to move onto the clutch and ignition covers. I used sandpaper and steel woll and it looked very nice, however i cannot do a lot of the cover due to it being on still. If I take the cover off wont I have to replace a gasket at least? what else will I replace? any alternatives to taking off the covers?

Take a picture, I want to see it. If you're carefull you don't need to replace the gasket. At least I don't think so. I never replace the one on my oil filter cover.

you should replace the gasket, but as long as your careful and dont rip it, you should be fine

if you are careful there will be no problems. use a pick or something to slowly work the gasket off the case. i polished my whole bike and realized it was a waste of time after a few rides. it looked cool for about a week.

theres your picture. i need to do the rest of the magnesium cover still. i think i am not going to take the covers off and just try to get it the best i can. Any problem with removing the ignition cover?
