New bars, sandpaper throttle side?

Recommended Posts

I just purchased new aluminum Jimmy Button Renthals for my 'S'. The bars are textured and I am afraid the new plastic throttle tube will not turn smoothly when I put a death grip on it.

Is it OK to use fine grit sandpaper to knock off the texture of the bar? What do you use for lube between the tube and the bar?

When i put on my Renthal bars i didn't use any lube nor did i sand the bars. Mine works fine. Sanding the bars could degrade the metal, i wouldn't do it. Just my opinion.

you shouldnt use any lube on the plastic-to-aluminum surface. itll tend to gunk up and stick to ay type of sand/dirt that would get in there... the ONLY type that would be ok to use would be a graphite powder, but ive never had to use any type of lube. should be all good.

No lube or sandpaper needed nor desired. Your "deathgrip" will not be an issue as far as turning the throttle,,,,at least until you develop major arm pump.
