87 DR600 Stator rewind or replace?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, new to the forum and this will be my first post. I recently bought myself a DR600, took it for a test run.. needed wheel bearings but ran ok.

I was out on my second ride and seems as though the screws in the generator came loose and screwd up the stator (haven't actually seen it although the mechanic said it needs replacing.

So, is it possible to rewind them myself, if not, where do I get replacements?

Has anyone got a spare in Australia they could sell?

Thanks guys

Hey mate, I feel your pain. Just had my stator on my 600 repaired here in BC Canada. I was given a ballpark quote of $700 Can. for a new stator if one could be found. Cost me $200 to have the pick-up coil rewound and the harness repaired. Look in the phone book under electric motor repair and ask around until somebody immediately knows what you are talking about. The car and truck electric guys here wouldn't touch it. Good luck.

Dave
