TT250 airbox help/hot engine

Recommended Posts

Just got a dead TT250, think '82. It has burnt several large holes in its airbox, any ideas as to replacing the air filter with a K&N or similar (jetting ?), or try to repair/find another airbox.

Any ideas as to why it gets so hot, it has melted the seat too. The engine backfires when running alot, would this be due to the stuffed airbox or other problems?

Any help appreciated.

sounds like a timing issue. check if the cam is not advanced ahead of tdc and make shure that the stator is set up according to oem specs.

a quick cheat check would be to put in some high test gas and see if it goes away/gets better.

check ebay as i had seen a couple getting scrapped out on there.

I have a 1982 tt250 and its almost impossible to get parts for. My advice is to get rid of it and move on to a newer better bike. If your really attached to the bike ebay is your best bet. Check everyday and your bound to find someone in the world with parts. I got a complete carb kit off ebay from australia thats no longer availiable through factory.

cheers,

motor wise it has same motor as xt250 so include that when you look for parts.
