oil in head?

Recommended Posts

Okay so theres a hose that comes out of the top of the cam cover. On the other side it has a plug. Whats it for? It keeps filling up with oil, I think transmission. The hose fills up so quick, that by the time my moto is over the bike is low on oil. We keep taking the plug out to drain the hose, because before that the oil was blowing out the carb and the airbox (reversed flow).

It's the catch tube. If it continually fills with oil you either 1. have too much oil in the case or 2.you need a new top end because your rings are not tight against the cylinder. Try only filling it 3/4 up the dipstick. Might be time for a top end. How many hrs. on it? Hone the cylinder and put some fresh rings in it. Assemble it dry and ride it hard for break-in. Search the subject. ?

It's probably a blown seal... Crank and or balancer seal. This causes the trans oil to be sucked in to the motor side and over filling it. It will than come out in the catch tube.

If your trans oil is getting lower when this happens than it's probably the seals.

Do a search. This has been discussed a few times. It's very cheap to fix.
