TTR 250 12 Tooth Front Sprocket?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone put a 12 tooth front sprocket on their bike? I was thinking of trying this to get out of first and second gear and give myself some more low end power. I do all trail riding.

Thanks,

It really wouldn't help unless you were climbing walls or you weigh more than 250lbs. I go 215lbs and the 13 tooth gives adaquate pull to haul my fat ass around trails and most hills I attempt. Mine is uncorked/jetted/piped though.

i agree.....i actually though it was to much so i bought a rear sproket to drop the back down two teeth so it would smooth out the gearing and move me faster

There are many "experts" who sat a 12 tooth is too tight, and very hard on the chain. I only trail ride and I find the stock gearing is very good, especially now that I have learned to ride a little better. You should uncork it though, it makes a huge difference in top end reponse and lets the bike breathe instead of being choked up. Opening the airbox is the best thing you can do.
