How does a Racing team make the $$

Recommended Posts

How does a racing team like MDK (not a factory team) make money? Do they get money from other sponsors... the purses can be great if thier riders aren't on the podium or in the top 10??

Really racing isnt a money making sport. Basically sponsors pay to have their name put out there and advertised. The team makes money off the sponsors and the sponors in turn make money off of being seen everywhere. Anything that RC advertises is going to sell...just because of association.

^Agreed. You dont go into racing to make money.

Basically, a race team gets funding by being sponsored. Granted, the race winnings help, but thats not even close to the amount of money it takes to fund a race team.

Don't tell it to Mitch Payton the way you've written it in here!

Or the guys at MDK racing, wither.

mitch payton is the exception to the rule....he has a very viable and varied product (pipes, motor work, accessories) that most other privateer teams do no offer..............not all motocross fans partake in energy drinks for example...but an awful lot do want go fast parts for their bikes...

Off topic but do the guys actually drink those energy drinks on the podium or are they taking fake sips? If you ever watch at the start gate the guys are drinking water if anything.

They're drinking water, sometimes if you look carefully when they take a sip you can see "H20" written on the bottom of the can.

Between sponsors, aftermarket parts and service for racers/riders and contract development work for OEM's, I can understand how Mitch makes money. I guess I don't know enough about MDK to know how they make money....

Looking to buy a used Beta 2017 500 RRS from outside California.  Can I plate (Register with CA DMV) the bike in CA?  If so what is the best way?  Don't have the money to put down for a new bike from a Dealer in CA.  Any help or sugguestions would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
