kneehurts Posted September 10, 2006 My 04 TE 450 won't start after having the Hall's mod done to my Mikuni and installing a rekluse clutch. It fires up, but only runs for 1 or 2 seconds before dying. It did this about a dozen times before the battery died (Of course!). Before I start ripping her apart, does anyone have any ideas? Will this happen if I have the carb vent hoses routed incorrectly? Ride Posted September 10, 2006 Gas turned on? Fuel come out of the float overflow if you lay the bike over? Make sure you have a good fuel supply before ripping into things and then from there it's just investigation. Crimped fuel lines might cause that but i would look for fuel delivery issues. Flame Posted September 12, 2006 I've seen busted battery cable ends do it. Maybe yours is just not totally busted yet?
DualsportWA Posted September 12, 2006 On the subject of fuel starvation, my te250 was doing similar things this weekend, The problem went away when I took off the fuel cap- so I blew out the fuel cap with compressed air (from the hose side) and saw vapor for a second (fuel or water) then it cleared. The bike now runs perfectly... Something to check. I saw a fellow TTer out riding this weekend that had the same problem.
