Any prob Reg DS plated in Ok to Ca.

Recommended Posts

Bring the bike into CA as a street bike. Keep words like "dual sport" and "off road" off of the paperwork. Take the bike to a CHP office for the VIN inspection, then take all the paper work to the DMV without the bike. Thats how I did it. State to state street bike registration. And yes, you will need on odometer for the VIN inspection. Do a forum search on the subject for details and call the dual sport kit companies to see if any new regulations have made it harder to do these days.

The problem area is the emissions sticker portion of the VIN verification. It's on form 343. The emissions section has 7 check boxes. If "Vehicle meets US EPA standards only" or "Vehicle meets US EPA standards and California standards" are checked then your are OK and will get a plate. If any of the others are checked then no California plate.

Are you saying it would be flagged and be an issue getting a plate in Ca. even if it already has a plate in Oklahoma?
