New to me 2008 DRZ 400s with only 1400 miles. I swapped out the stock headlight, fender and blinkers. I went with the Amazon headlight(for now), Zeta handguards with blinkers, and the TST taillight and license plate bracket/light. I went with the Acerbis front fender and added skateboard wheels for slide protection. I hope to find some SM wheels in the near future and the PMR rear rack.

Skateboard wheels? Genius. I’ve been wanting to throw on a set of sliders but didn’t want to drop $160 for a set. Any special mods need to be done to bolt those on? How exactly did you go about it?

#prosper406I found the skateboard wheels idea on this forum actually and only spent around $17 on the setup. I just bought 3/8" threaded rod and 4 nylock nuts. Cut the rod to length and good to go! Thanks.

Oh and I had to drill a hole in the rear piece of rod so my cotter pin would go through for the rear axle nut.

#prosper406My front Axle doesn't have a pin through the nut. Only the rear, and yes it goes through the axle so it locks the nut in place and can not be untightened.

If its any help or use here are some printable axel sliders free for download.  I drew then based on the ones that came on the SM.

Picked up my DRZ end of March and have been reading this forum since... so here is my first post:

Just below “the steps” of Black Bear Pass coming into Telluride, CO. We started in Telluride with 12 riders and did Imogene Pass to Ouray, then Corkscrew Pass, Hurricane Pass, California Pass to Engineer Pass into Lake City. The next day (yesterday) road Cinnamon Pass to Silverton, then Brooklyn Trail to Black Bear Pass home. Fantastic trip and the DRZ did great (and was even admired by some KTM riders)! I went with stock gearing, but I think the 14/47 option might have been a touch better up near 13’000 feet.

If I remember correctly, this shot was at the summit of Hurricane Pass.

Heres my Dizzer

  • 434 big bore
  • Stage 2 cams
  • 39mm carb
  • MRD exhaust

Just painted the case savers, foot controls, and heel guard. Next on the list is to use some vinyl wrap on the swing are and fork uppers, and I'm in two minds about cutting the rear side plastics down
