IMS tank for SXF problem

Recommended Posts

I installed a new IMS big tank for my 06 SXF for harescramble racing. With some heat, it fit right around the valve cover no problem.

The problem is the upper clamp bolts hit the tank when you turn the bars.

It may not be a big issue, because you get 95% of turning, but it may be an issue in the tight stuff. I haven't ridden it yet to see.

Anyone else come across this? Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks,

If the bars are not turning fully, then i would be more concerned that if you do drop the bike, that the clamps will not crack/split the tank.

Can you use a heat gun and mold the tank so the clamps will turn all the way. Being able to turn as tight as possible would be a big concern for the riding and racing I do here in IL., tight stuff here.
