Got Bike Running But Won't Idle

if you put too much stabil in the tank it can actually form little grains of.. um crap, I dont know what it is. I'm not a chemist. I've seen it before so dont add too much. and this applys to all fuel stabilizers not just stabil.

You know what? This makes alot of sense. I bet he put more then he should being parinoid about storing the bike.

i sprayed wd40 all over the carb, intake boots and she didnt idle up so i dont think its a leak. Could it just be the colder wheather thats causing it to not run with the choke off?

Doubtful, but... what pilot jet is in the bike now?

You have a stock carb with a jet kit, right? If the pilot is a 22.5, then it may be on the small side and if you have a 25, pop it in. Leave the fuel screw at 2~3 turns out from closed.

its a 39mm fcr mx with a 45 pilot

Your Pilot jet is plenty big.

You do have the fuel screw (on the bottom front of the float bowl) set right?

Appx. 2 to 2.5 turns out from gently closed.

The plastic knob on the side of the carb is idle speed. Did you try to simply turn it in Clockwise a few turns?

fuel screw is ok, and i did mess with the idle. When i take it off choke i can keep it running for a few seconds if i hold it half throttle but it breaks up and back fires really bad, then eventually dies.

I took the carb off the bike and took it apart completely, everything looks fine and i replaced all the gaskets except the ones that are inbetween the bowl and slide, as i didnt have those. could a leak in that area cuase this problem...even though it didnt show up when i sprayed the carb down while the bike was running...

A bad gasket in the float bowl will not cause a running problem, make leak fuel, that is all.

Hold the throttle at half throttle, hmmmm - You may want to check the float height. You have a lean condition, if the float is set too low, this can create a too lean condition, esp. at idle.

I know this has already been talked about and the obvious thing but I had these exact symptoms with the plugged pilot jet. I tried cleaning once by just cleaning the needle which was fine and iit still did the same thing. I had to blow compressed air through the needle and such and then it worked fine.
