Engine Animation ?

Very cool stuff, I really appreciate this thread as well!

In the animation of the 2S above, exhausted fuel is sent into the exhast pipe. The animation shows energy or material being sent back toward the motor (indicated with arrows '<<<')...why is that?

I'm not the expert but my take is it's the resonance of pressure waves created by the shape of the exhaust cones - this backwards pressure helps to keep the fuel charge in place in the cylinder until the piston closes the exhaust port.

Somebody please check me and tell me how close I got?

Thanks also for the thread and the awesome animation. I wish I had something like that back in the 70s - would have helped my poor little brain quite a bit.
