How to remove clutch cable?

I'm trying to remove the clutch cable on my '06 SM610, and there doesn't seem to be any easy way to get it loose from the lever on the engine. I don't want to destroy the clip the cable end fits into, but it looks like it has to be bent apart, like it wasn't designed for easy removal of the cable (I'm a retired mechanical designer.)

So, what's the secret?

The clip has a little TANG sticking down use small screwdriver to bend it out of the way. Grab the arm with cresent wrench to actuate the arm then just slip the cable end out. Later George

I had decided that that was the only way it was coming out, and bent the tang, but thanks George.

I was reluctant to do that because I was afraid it might break off. I wonder how many times it can be bent back and forth before it does.

Just don't bend it back use a small zip tie to hold position Later George
