1978 XL250S Header Pipe

Recommended Posts

I was just given a 1978 XL250S in fantastic condition. (Titled, Tagged and Inspected for the road!) I'm currently detail cleaning the bike and the only real "eye sore" is a very rusty header pipe. Can this pipe be sanded and painted? Whats the best way to get it back to excellent condition? Any help is appreciated! Thanks...:censored:

I use a wire wheel to derust, and i would think if you want to paint it you could use black spray paint for ovens since it holds up to heat so well.

I had a 78 Xl175 that was so clean minus the same problem and thats how i cleaned it. Man i wish i had kept ahold of that thing, if I find a 350 its gonna be hard to pass up.

Sounds good to me. I painted a cooking grill with a flat black, heat resistant paint several years ago and it still looks great. Thanks for the quick reply.:censored:
