XR400, WB E series pipe, jetting??

Recommended Posts

Ive got a 2000 Xr400, everything is stock besides the filter and a White Brother E2 series pipe.

It doesnt have the quiet core in it at the moment, but I do have one.

Dont know how much altitude plays a part in jetting, but Im pretty well at sea level if that helps.

Road and trail riding, nothing amazing.

What jet size should I be looking at?

Thanks

Snorkle under the seat pulled?

You're most likely looking at 160/60 jetting for sea level with the intake/air filter and exhaust mods. Possibly even 162/62. Getting hot over there yet?, I'd try the leaner jetting first.

I'm not familiar with how much the quiet core reduces flow of the system, but it's possible a jet change may be required, may get away with just tweaking the fuel screw. After jetting for it without the core, then putting it in, it's going to run richer. You'll just have to experiment and see.

I'll have to have a look to see if the snorkle is there or not.

Its actually been a very odd summer here.

Stinking hot for a few days, then raining and humid, then the temp drops about 15deg C. Very weird.

Seen a max of 42 C so far, very hot lol.

Cheers

Ok, Ive checked the bike, no snorkle.

Going to put a new plug in tomorrow, ride it for a few days, then check colour.
