TTR-125 Carb Adjustment...OOps

Recommended Posts

My wife's carb was gummed up, so I took it apart today and cleaned the float mechanism and associated valves. By mistake, removed the needle valve (which unscrews from the bottom of the carb). Put it all back together, and screwed back in the needle valve. Won't start.

In desparation, I read the owner's manual (usually my last resort). In the section about the needle valve, Yamaha says to count the number of turns the valve is backed out...before removing it.

Since I didn't do that, does any one of you brilliant TTR-125 owners know about how many turns to back the needle valve out?

:censored:

Start with 1 1/2 turns, once you get it running, turn it out to get the highest rpm, turn it back IN and stop when it drops rpm, then turn it out 1 full turn. should be right on.

If you're talking about the pilot, or fuel screw, the factory setting is around 1.5 turns out from (lightly) seated.

In real life this number should be more like 2-2.5 turns out.

The factory setting is mentioned in the service manual.
