New rear 19" wheel

Recommended Posts

Just bought a rear 19 inch wheel off a CRF450R - size 19x2.15. Currently have an 04 CRF250X with a stock 18 inch wheel with stock 53T sprocket. Would the same 53T sprocket on the new wheel work ok in terms of power/torque delivery? Or is there a different size sprocket I need to keep the power delivery the same? Thanks.

Are you sure the OD is the same. When my bike is sitting beside my friends R, his tire looks like it stands taller. But it could just be me.

I bet your buddy has a fairly large tire on his 19" wheel if looks taller than your 18". Normally they stand the same height, the 18 just has a lot taller aspect ratio to keep rubber between rocks and the wheel.

Main reason, it's easier to tune the suspension with a lower profile tire. Additionally the rider has less 'squirm' in corners, better bite and feel. But they pinch one heck of a lot easier in the woods.
