Husky SM510/JD jet kit/PN and PN+ = lean?

Recommended Posts

I just installed my JD jet kit along with the Power No and Power Now Plus system on my 07 Husky SMR510. I rode for about 10-15 miles yesterday and noticed that the bike was idling a bit higher than before. When I was in the garage this evening I noticed the inside of the exhaust at the end of the muffler was a really light grey color. I installed the JD kit according to the instructions for 0-4,000 ft elevation because I am at right around 2,700 ft here in Idaho. It was about 40-45 degrees out when I rode yesterday.

Is the light color to the inside of the exhaust a sign of the bike running dangerously lean? I hope I didn't hurt anything in the motor running it like this yesterday.

I read on here before installing the PN and PN+ that it tends to make most bikes run lean but when I emailed JD about it he assured me that with the jet kit I should be fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I suspect JD is right, that your OK, modern gas does not leave the color on plugs or exhaust that the old stuff did.

I suspect your mid throttle when you creating the color (if your wide open look at the main jet but I probubly would have read about you in the paper) so why don't you raise the needle up a couple notches (move clip down) and see how it works.

I might mess with it tomorrow. I just get paranoid very easily and when I saw the color of the inside of the muffler I got worried. I just went out to pull the plug to take a look at it and maybe get a picture to post up but I can't get to it with the larger IMS tank. If I remember right isn't it best to ride at normal speed and then kill the bike letting it coast to a stop and then check the plug so the bike hasn't been idling before you check it?

The gas I am running is 93 octane pump gas (10% Ethanol) mixed with a little bit of C12. Maybe just under 1/4 C12 and the rest pump gas.
