Loading up a TE610?

Recommended Posts

I plan on meeting a buddy in southern Utah in April and am seriously considering getting a new TE610 - had an 06 that has since left the fold.

Never packed up my 06 with much. For this trip we will probably camp a few nights. How do you pack these bikes - racks, soft luggage, etc? Seems like it would be difficult to pack a lot on without a strong rear rack. Any suggestions? Any experience with these items - any suggestions? Thanks.

They come from the factory with a rear rack rated for 20 pounds I believe, theres also tank bags, tank panniers, , if you want an aftermarket rack, ProMotoBillet makes one with optional pannier flaps, check out the TE610 thread in Adventurerider.

Theres also Mark Sampson (AKA Bigdog), right now he's in Mexico with his TE610

www.dirt-bagz.com - got a set of Rangers and pannier racks for $239 - took a week to get half way around the world. Just over an hour to fit and well made product - highly recommend

Standard rack also pretty secure. Have bolted a milk crate to it and would not hesitate loading it up - tent, self-inlfating mat and sleeping bag plus five litres of gas.

Let me know if you want some pics.

Installed the PMB rack, tough as nails. Wonder if I could mount a set dirt bagz without losing the rack. Also have a front fender tube pack, and have ordered the Moose handle bar bag.

My AeroStitch Tank Pannier Install TE-610

The IMS tank will do away with the plastic shrouds which in my estimation will make for an even better velcro placement assuming it will stick to the tank ok...

I also have the Dirtbags and the Promotobillet rack. The pannier brackets are designed to bolt right up and mount using both subframe extension bolts. The PMB is easier to strap to but the stock rack is very solid.

Using the tank panniers for clothing and the dirtbags for heavier items, tankbag for essetnials, and adding a tool tube on the skidplate I think we have more than ample gear space...

Yes, you can mount the dirtbag brackets as they don't interfere with the PMB rack. You won't need the PMB guards particularly b/c PMB send an exaust guard , if you happen to have an 06' model that did not come with this guard...
