kx clutch question

Recommended Posts

hi i have a 04 kx250.the clutch lever has a tiny bit of play in it but when i put in gear, running, it feels like the clutch is dis engaging slightly with the bike creeping a tiny bit..it is real grabby when releasing and is almost impossible to get neutral while engine running, when riding it is good with no slipping.does it sound like time for a new clutch...or spacers in the springs? thanks :applause:

Try automatic tranny fluid in your gear box.My boys kx65 did that to the point of dieing when he would pull it in to stop.Put ATF in and its like a brand new clutch now.

I had the same problem on my 2000 KX125. After searching this site (search "dragging clutch") I found that it was probably warped steel plates or a grooved basket. I took it apart and found the basket was grooved pretty bad. I would have tried to file down the grooves, but I broke a tab off the basket. I ended up putting in a hinson basket and new plates and spring. Works perfect.
