Hey Mikey,

Maybe its time to trade up to something a little newer. I run a modded XR250R and am going with flatslide and 280kit. You say you want more power, I don't think the 400 would do it for you. It's heavier and just has more torque. I have spent quite a bit of time on many different bikes, including 400-450, including WR450. If you want something lite and powerful, get something like this one. I spent 2 months last summer riding my nephews' YZ250F(four stroke). May not sound like much, but it was done up for racing. It had a completely modified top end on it by Bondi in Toronto. They specialise in snowmobile engines and 4 stroke dirt bikes. I could easily outrun, outjump and outclimb any sandpit hills when compared to all other bikes in my group. It had maximum punch at any speed and could lift the front wheel even in 5th gear. But what about torque you say, well, this thing had incredible power right off idle.

Now I know that for trail riding, the YZ250F's gearbox might not be the best, but what about a WR250F with the same kind of mods. I think that would be the cat's ass, including normal ratio 6 speed gearbox, larger gas tank and E-start as a bonus. Have a look here: http://www.bondiengines.com/motocross-04yzf250.php . Maybe it's time you considered a CRF250 ?

My nephew's bike had a pipe and a few more extras on it and produced 45 dynoed horses. Quite the little gem eh?

hey guys

does a xr400 engine fit in the xr250 ??? if not what are the differences ?????

might as well put that XR400 engine into a 1999 up CR125 or CR250 chassis. leave the 250 alone. its already awesome as it is. :applause:
