Need taller setup for DRZ400E

Recommended Posts

What are the 6' 2" + guys doing to raise the bars and lower the footpegs?

Is there a footpeg ou there that is lower than the factory setup? Anyone seen a fastway lowboy peg for this bike?

How does anyone tall stand up on the stock setup?

I'm 6'2 and I went with the Renthal Jimmy button bar, thats like 1.3" taller than stock. That helped ALOT but if you need more they sell handle bar spacers any where from like .5" to 2" I believe. As for the footpegs I don't know about those.:applause:

6' 3" (36" inseam)

I gained some standup height when I added a Scotts SUB Mount Stabilizer (SUB= Stabilizer backwards Under Bars) using the Windham MX (RM Mid) bars. The SUB mount is equivalent to about a 1" riser.

The Windham MX (RM Mid) bars have a tad more height than the CR Highs and just a little less pullback.

I'm 6'4" and run 1.5" up and 1.375 forward bar risers and a set of Jimmy Button bend Renthals works great I can stand comfortably for hours. On my S model I reworked the pegs and lowered them 5/8" that worked well but the E model pegs will take a bit more effort to lower so I havent done it yet. If I saw some aftermarket lowered one I'd probably buy them. Anything to open up that riding postion. I rode a 400exc recently and I really disliked the riding position seated because the seat to pegs distance is much tighter than my DRZ. I felt like the heels of my boots were almost touching my butt. I couldn't stand much at all on it, to darn small.

How about footpegs anyone?

Imnot sure what your looking for here. Lowering pegs is not the best idea s they already drag onteh ground when the bike is being ridden hard.... I have a SM and I drag mine on teh asphalt all teh time

Just get those claps I poste dearlier and some new bars and you shoudl be OK..... I know when I have a fe wextra buckes thats where Im headed with my money

I'm 6'2. I went with the ProTaper ATV Raptor bend, tallest bar they make. Rotated to the +2 forward position, they are perfect both sitting and standing.

Also put on the SDG tall seat. Excellent product. I'm really impressed with how well they make it and what a good price they sell it for.

I'm going to be visiting a bike frame specialist to see about a custom fab for lowering the footpegs. For the E and S, there's plenty of ground clearance, and nobody leans a dirtbike over like you do a supermotard.

I've read that Moose and Fastway footpegs can be put in a 1/2" down position, which is the alternative to doing something custom.

There is guy named Ryan Bottesi of Underground Machine that has made a custom made 2" siser that is made to mount a scotts damper under it. Its $125 but makes a very clean look to a bike with the scotts damper tucked out of the way so a guy like me doesnt wind up with the damper in his chest in a crash. You could use some renthal atv bars to get another inch higher. You can email Ryan at rbott@adelphia.net to order the riser. I am getting one befor spring.

Thanks,

I have researched the pegs and Fastway does not make a set for the DRZ. I bought a set of IMS pegs and will try to have a shop cut them down. I will post a pic if it works out.

i'm 6'0 not all that tall a guy and felt pretty crampt on the Z, i have fastways on my Strom... nice pegs but the pivot pegs are better for offroad... SGD tall saddle is key, Terra Flex 150/90 and get the heaviest Race tech spring and set the sag... my ride sits 39" to the ground and i am tippy toes to the ground... even with my body on the bike there is minimal height loss... i use the 2" Rox risers and the Pro taper ATV High Bars... lost track of the numerical position but this is now a good bike for anyone over 6'0...
