R Flywheel on X

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking about puting a R flywheel on my X and what to ask a few quesstions first:

1. How much does a new R flywheel cost?

2. How much lighter is the R flywheel than the X?

3. How easy is the flywheel to remove? Are there and special tools needed because I could not remove my XR 200's flywheel because it needed a special puller tool that the dealership had.

You can find the flywheel on ebay or try Trailtech.

It helps give the X some snap..

You can check out Service Honda for the OEM flywheel, or go with an aftermarket from Trailtech. You can probably pick up a used one from someone on this site who's changed theirs out.

17mm deep well socket, trailtech CRF flywheel puller with adaptor, an automotive oil filter wrench to hold the flywheel. Honda makes a tool that is essentially a spanner wrench that holds the flywheel while you untighten the nut, but I don't know where you can find it or how much it costs? You can use an air or electric impact wrench to remove the nut, but don't tighten it with one. You'll need a torque wrench to reasssmble the flywheel. The nut needs to be torqued to 47 ft lbs. Don't overtighten it.
