CRF230 Faster?

Recommended Posts

I have my 230, de-baffled, jetted, and have an exhaust.....this year I focused on suspension with my upgrades but next year I want to do engine work.....anyone put the BBR cam/springs and big bore kit in?? Do you need to get a different carb with the BBK?? Is it worth it?? Where is the power really felt??

Basic mods in general will slightly increase the top speed. Stuff like rejetting and adding a pipe will increase it because the engine will be able to pull itself near or on the limiter in 6'th gear. The most effective way is just doing an easy sprocket swap. Put a 14T front sprocket up front, that'll make a noticeable difference. It would be a 6% increase is speed.

Besides jetting, air filter and pipe my favorite mod is the Renthal aluminum rear sprocket. I know so many riders like different gearing but I like stock and the aluminum being lighter gave it much more snap. I like tight trails and the bike is so much more responsive now I get to the scene of my crash a lot quicker.
