Jetting What???

Recommended Posts

I'm confused by what I'm seeing in my spark plug. I've got the stock needle(YT) in the 6th clip position(raised 1 richer from stock). I've got the stock main and pilot for sea level jetting. I'm 2 turns out on the screw. My spark plug looks lean. It's greyish with white spots on the ends of the electrode tips.

The catch is I'm riding at 6000'. How could it be running lean at 6000'?

One thing I learned here in school is that there are 2 kinds of lean, and 2 kinds of rich...

Lean: Too much air, or not enough fuel.

Rich: Too much fuel, or not enough air.

I might hazard to guess that you have a fuel restriction somewhere. Maybe the carb is gettin gummed up.

Tonight or tomorrow I'll be pulling that apart. I'll be sure everything is clean. It's been running great, never sputters or pops. Thanks for the info. Anyone else, feel free to chime in.
