drowned it

Recommended Posts

My inexperienced nephew drowned his bike (CRF150f) on the weekend and water went into the gearbox. Other then repeated flushes with oil can anything else be done to get rid of all the water?

Flushing the gearbox with diesel was suggested.

thanks

:applause: Man, DON'T let it sit with water in it.......that's when the damage is done! Also it's not just in the gear box, it's in the whole engine! Change oil in it, (no diesel) go out and ride (put a few miles on it) it to get it good and warm. (Also how's the air filter?) Change oil again until traces of moisture are gone. May also want to leave dip stick out when you park it after you get done so it can vent. Remove valve adj caps etc for more venting of possible traces of moisture. When you drown one you want to get RIGHT after it and get it dried out, DON'T let it sit!:applause:
