Jetting Recommendations Didn't Work!

Please Help, I Followed A Thread That Said To Use A #42 Pilot Jet In My Stock '05 400ex For Hard Starting And To Adjust The Fuel Screw Out To 2 1/4 Turns ( Stock Is 1 1/2 Turns Out ). After Riding It I Only Had Up To 1/4 Throttle And Then Above That The Bike Was Sputtering And Wanted To Die. I Had To Ride With The Choke On. Should I Put The Fuel Screw Back To Stock And Leave The #42 Pilot In Or Fuel Screw Back To Stock And Pilot Screw Back To Stock #38?

I Ordered The D Wrench From Motion-pro, So I Will Wait To Get It Then Turn The Fuel Screw Back To Stock Position ( 1 1/2 Turns Out ) And Leave The #42 Pilot Jet In And See What Happens From There. As Far As My Work, I Followed The Thread On Installation Which Also Showed Photos. I Did Not Touch Anything Else Other That The Idle Screw. I Hope This Works.
