Wave rotor on the rear of a DRZ400SM (Pics)

Recommended Posts

When you are crazy enough... anything is possible.

This rotor is available on Thumpertalk, its a Galfer Part No: DF499W.

Just had to grind a bit off the flange on the hub housing for the rotor flange to fit.

Now I have got more rotor surface than the brake pads can handle.

And yeah... it bolts on after that easily and works fine, no chaffing and has been track tested already.

On my E model, I run a 2001 RM250 rear caliper carrier and a rear Braking SZ21RID wave rotor. Both bolts on perfect. I would think SM owners juz need to get a rotor meant for a 2001 - 2005 RM125/250 as you guys are already using the RM sized rear rotor.

Does it 'feel' any better? Looks good.

Feels the same, simply because the caliper has not been shifted from its original position. If the caliper was repositioned further outboard on the rotor, am sure the braking efficiency will improve, just like the oversized EBC rotor I have on the front.

The rotor is just a tad bigger than the original, but you could say I went that way coz it looks good.

:applause: A modification based on looks rather than function.
