06 YZ 250 Forks - Changing Springs

Recommended Posts

I bought an 06 YZ 250 a few weeks ago, and I need to stiffen up the springs (front and back). I've seen a couple really good posts on this forum in the past, but I can't seem to find them using the search tool tonight.

I've never been inside of a twin chamber fork before, so any tips / lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The manual steps you through it pretty well. You can improvise on the special tooling but the right tools make the job so much easier.

I agree with trash. The damper rod holder makes life good! The job sucks the first time, but I can now switch s set in under 45 minutes...both sides. Be careful not to nick anything inside. Yamaha coats these pieces with EXPENSIVE kashima coating. Be careful.

I should have mentioned that I bought the bike used and the guy I bought it from lost the manual.

Is there a downloadable version available?
