TE510 vs SMR510 dry wights?

Recommended Posts

My first good dirt bike as a kid was a Husky, a '72 WR250 so it was old, but it was in great shape and was a blast, so I have a weak spot for Husky's.

Lately, I have been drooling over the thought of maybe getting a new 510 (or 450) and set it up for both dirt and supermoto. I know there are issues with the larger disk on the smr being a problem in the dirt so that would lean me toward the TE anyhow.

My question is, and I can't seem to find it on Husky's site or after several searches here, but why is the SMR so much heavier than the TE?

According to Husky's website, dry weight on the SMR510 is 292.8 lbs and the TE510 weighs in at 250.8 lbs. That is a 42 pound difference. I just don't see where all that extra weight comes from.
