Intake boot hindering performance? yz250f '05

Recommended Posts

Today when I put the carburetor back, I observed that the rubber boot that is connecting the carb to the engine head is protruding to the inside 1-1.5mm. More on the side where is the tightening screw. If I let loose both sides (one to the engine, one to the carb) everything is ok, the transition from the carb to the intake is smooth and the gap is filled perfect by the special shoulder of the boot. When I tighten the carburetor side is ok, but when I tighten the other side then the problem appear, if I look through the carburetor with the slide open I can see like an o-ring is inside (the shoulder is coming in).

The boot is perfect installed on both sides, this was the first thing I verified.

Have you observed this problem too?

I want to cut out the excess, but I’m afraid to not compromise the sealing. Does this protrusion hinder the performance, or is too small to worry?
