Spoke Question???

Recommended Posts

Today i was trying to change my own tires, which was totally unsucessful by the way. In the process I somehow broke a spoke. So i was looking around online and found two different lenght spokes for the 2001 cr250. They have 227mm and 240mm. Im guessing I need the 240mm? The only thing i can think the 227 is for, is the optional 20 inch wheel the 2001's had??? Also do you guys change your own tires or do you have someone else do it. The dealer closest to me charges 45 bucks to swap rubbers and i find that a bit ridiculous. Would a local tire shop mount up some dirtbike tires??

Thanks for any help!

I believe one side of the wheel takes longer spokes than the other. not sure which side though. just keep trying to mount that tire until you get it. practice definately makes perfect with this. it's a great skill to have with you.

Often the inner and outer spokes may be of diff lengths and also have a diff angle on the head end of the spoke.
