Fram Oil Filters

I live in a small town without a Honda dealer close by so it isn't easy for me to get parts.I was wondering what peoples opinions are regarding Fram oil filters in a XR400.I can get those locally.Also I have read that the concensus is that Amsoil is about the best oil to run but once again I will have trouble getting it.I have heard that a local business can get in but it's about $13.00/quart.I can get Amsoil formula 4 stroke 0w-40(AFF) but that looks like it is for ATV's and sleds or their V-twin stuff.Any other brands you would recommend?

I get the Amsoil 10W40, and it runs roughly $12.45 a quart. I'm not sure about Fram filters though, never tried them or heard of them making one for the bike. I would suggest ordering up maybe 10 OEM filters from a dealer and picking them up once and you'll have them in stock for a while.

I have used Fram and NAPA Gold filters in my XRs for years without any problems. Castrol 20-50 and Shell Rotella 15-40 are both excellent oils, I have used both with no problems.

Which type of Castrol do you use?There are a few different Castrol motorcycle oils?Has anyone tried Castrol R4 Superbike.It looks like the only full synthetic motorcycle oil unless that Act/Evo stuff is.

Check the label for "EC", energy conservation. Almost all 30 wt synthetic oil (0-30, 10-30, 5-30) has EC additives and should not be used in a bike with a wet clutch.

I would recommend saving for the Stainless Steal oil filters.

It is a great investment,considering your location and the fact that it will be the last oil filter you buy for the bike.

Then all you'll have to worry about is oil.

I recommed Rocky MT Mc for the purchase of these products.
