Jetting for an '06' yzf450

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, new to forum, and just recently purchased this dirt bike,I had a quad

with this motor(YFZ 450 '04').Bike is totally stock, and it seems to backfire

upon deceleration, plus it seems to be hard to start when cold, bike is new,not

broken in yet, stock jetting from factory...was just wondering is bike 'LEAN '

from factory?...elevation under 100' ,temp 35-45 F...who is the Jetting

Tech Guru on this site??..THX ED

The 48 will fix your decel bog, but how does your bike run up top, does it hesitate?

While your swapping the pilot out, you should put a 170 main in, that will fix any hesitation.

Thx,48 pilot?, I think stock is 45?...so it seems your saying its lean,OK,mind

you, bike is stock, and not broken in,haven't done any top end runs, bike seems to hesitate at 1/8-1/4 throttle, should I go one step richer in main?...I

know the FCR carb on the quad (had one),I assume all the stock traits

of quad is same as YZF? THX ED:ride:

I don't know about the quad stuff, but just take your main up to a 170 and you'll be happy. You will need to readjust your air/fuel screw as well.

THX Guys, changed pilot jet from 42 to 45,changed main from 165 to 168,also

pilot screw is now set at 2 1/8 turns out,...starts and runs alot better!,though

it still has a slight pop through exhaust upon decel...I guess I should go to

a 48,but right now its OK! ED:ride:
