Replacing the lock-washer on the front sprocket?

Recommended Posts

So I took my front sprocket off for the first time. I noticed that the manual recommends replacing the locking-washer around the nut every time you remove the front sprocket. They are about $5 a pop. So my question is:

Who replaces the lock washer everytime, and who re-uses it?

If you re-bend it back on, how many times have you done that before replacing it?

Any horror-stories?

Thanks!

I just pulled my motor out and as I bent the tab out and started to fit a socket over the sprocket nut it just came off with my fingers:eek:

I for one will be using a new lock washer

Thanks guys. Great, doesn't sound like any horry stories, although, maybe an "almost". I will reuse, but purchase a spare, just in case it starts to look like it needs it.
