Virgin 400 rider

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys just got my self a 05 400e after my son stole my drz 250 of me. Never had anything bigger than a 250 and am totaly in love with my 400 should of done it years ago. Its got worn chain & sprockets and would like any recommendations for what size sprocket i should go for. Mostly used on deep sandy forest tracks. Should i stay standard or go bigger any help appreciated.:applause:

I think you need to get more low down grunt if you are spending more time in the bush, after all how fast would you go in the bush?

Maybe a 13:47 would be good. Keep us informed about what you do, if it works well might try it as well.:applause:

A 13 front could wear out a chain faster. I would use 14/49 instead. I actually like 14/47. Because I can use 2nd gear alot, & put it in 1st when needed. :applause:

Yep...

14/49 for the tight stuff, and deep sand.

A 13T front sprocket will start to eat chains a lot sooner than a 14T front will.

That having been said...

I find 14/47 is fine for tight and tricky technical trails. And deep mud, too. But I don't do much riding in sand.
