Do you guys know of any good, reasonably priced radio scanners that I can pick up to listen to the weatherman, and some of the pit crews/race teams?

Ham Radio Outlet.... tons of "reasonably priced" units.

Or just buy a race radio ($120-$160), and be able to talk back. Stick a mic. Pull a Richard Cranium!

Another vote for Radio Ham Outlet. They have 5 retail stores in California. Or if you are in the LA area, go to the Weatherman's own store - PCI Race Radios in Signal Hill.

I have the Yaesu VX170. You have to make a modification to expand the frequencies though. Radio Ham Outlet can explain it to you.
