Practice Session Injury - will ins. cover?

Recommended Posts

My son-in-law was injured at an organized racing event, however his injuries were sustained during a practice session. He was taken by ambulance from the track to the emergency room. Crushed one vertabra, but 4 (in total), were fused together.

I'm worried that when the insurance realizes that the accident took place at an arena, that it may not cover even though he was not technically in a "race" at the time of the accident :applause:

it will cover the accident.

Don't count on that. Been there, done that at an open practice day at an MX facility.

splk, hopefully it works out for your son-in-law.

It depends on the company you are with and the "guidelines". Look though you policy, and try to find the section of non coverage. There is a list of things in every policy, that differ from company to company, that will tell you if it is covered. The fact that it was in the practice session of the race makes no difference to the insurance company however. They will say it was at an "orginized event". If you can't find your policy packet call your insurace company and they can email, fax, or mail a copy to you. Best wishes to you and your son-in-law!!!
