CRF250r FMF pipe missing piece

Recommended Posts

I bought a used 2004 CRF250r today. The guy included an FMF Factory 4 exhaust with it that wasn't on the bike. The header on this pipe isn't made like most i've seen as their is no lip on the cyl. side end with a flange to bolt to the cyl. I'm unsure how the header attaches to the cyl but it looks like I must be missing a piece. Can anyone help me out?

Hey friend. Congrats on the purchase-and welcome aboard! Is it a powerbomb header? That just sounds weird. I wonder if it was cut off of something else (?) It should have a collar that slides into the exhaust port in your head and a flange to bolt it up. Did you try going to the FMF site to look at the header?

Maybe you can just use the canister as a slip on? Keep us posted. Got pics of the bike?

Does it look like this dude?

If you look close, you can see the collar in front of the flange. It is slighlty lager in diameter than the pipe itself.

Hope that helps.

It's an awesome pipe if you can get 'er hooked up. I opened my fuel screw a bit and the bike really woke up. It is a bit loud though. I'm going to repack my canister shortly.

The header is a TI powerbomb header. What you are describing is what I would expect the pipe to have but it has no raised lip or flange on it. It has 3 spring hooks on it. The best I can guess is that theirs suppose to be a seperate flange that bolts to the cyl and has an inch or 2 of pipe sticking out. This appears to slide into it and just be held in with springs?

I've looked on FMF's site and found a similar looking system

BTW I got a killer deal on this thing I'm so happy to have gotten it. It has new tires, chain & sprockets, Hole shot device, brand new SDG seat. Only thing it needed was a new front brake lever. The guy never even told me he was throwing in the pipe and I got it all for 2200.00

as far as i know honda doesnt use the spring type flanges for their 4 strokes. It sounds like you have the wrong header. Or possibly the whole pipe may be to a different bike. Maybe thats why he didnt tell you he was throwing it in..

I'll have to agree with SoCal Sierra. I don't think it's the right system. Definately not the right header.

That is the system I have, and mine doesn't have those little spings hooks welded on it, and does have a collar on the end.

If it's not the right system, it might not even line up correctly as a slip on. Can you check with the dude you bought it from?

Great deal on the bike. Hope it works out well for you.

Wow...maybe I'm missing something  Mine does not have a spring kit for the header, just the can and mid-pipe. No little springy tits welded on mine either  Oh well... see if FMF can hook you up. You love it if you get it on! Let us know bro :applause:
