Engine Coatings?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone coated internal engine parts? I know there are mixed feelings about this but i feel it could really be beneficial expecialy if you have acces to a dyno. I feel the coatings may be priced a little high for what they acctually do, but none the less helpful. I thought about having my piston dome, and skirt coated, maybe the intake and exhaust ports, along with the valves. Possibly get some more life out of them. Not sure if it would balance out the cost vs. performance vs. longevity? Maybe a beneficial option for the privateer to extend rebuild intervals and gain a little performace. It might even make the engine more consistant.

I don't think that you will get a performance increase but I do think that there will be a longevity increase of the parts... I think that pretty much all piston skirts have a Teflon/molybdenum coating on them to increase their life/make them more slippery
