450 X Front sprocket cover

Can anybody tell me why you would take the cover off, does it enhance the performance that I am not aware of..

doesnt enhance anything. it might catch your foot one of these days though and it will enhance your agony :applause:

keep the metal guard on it though. u will think it hurts when your chain brakes and it slaps your engine.

It keeps rocks from getting between the guard and the chain/sprocket and punching a hole in your case.

Use a case saver instead, Fastway or Hammerhead or 5-10 products.

DITTO.

All you need is a stock, or aftermarket case saver...

And don't ride in flip-flops. :applause:

LOL We Dont have mud here in Arizona....

Yeah, but we have rocks, sticks, and various other things that will wad up in there.

I run it off, keep the metal case saver in place. It may very well save you some grief one day, nothing like coming to a sudden unexpected stop because a small rock jammed the chain.
