RG3 Linkage on a CRF250?

I have a chance to be a barely sued RG3 linkage for my 2005 CRF. I know all the factorey rides swap out the stock linkage - but why? Im not quite clear what an aftermarket linkage imporves. Just more control in breaking bumps, etc? Anmd does the crf250 have an issue in that area to begin with? Curiously.....

The linkage changes the rate at which the shock travels making it more or less progressive. The 250s don't have a problem it is just preference. You might or might not like the linkeage, but for the most part I haven't heard any bad reviews about the aftermarket linkages.
